Licensing

Overview

A Pro license unlocks the Pro add-on’s features: quarterly OSS reports, auto-apply VAT rates, the VAT rate importer, VIES B2B validation, multi-currency tracking, predictive forecasting, multi-level alerts, and CSV export. Your license is managed through Lemon Squeezy, and activation is handled directly within your WordPress admin.

Plans

There are two plans — Pro (single site) and Agency (unlimited sites). Both include the same Pro features; the only difference is how many sites the license can be activated on. See current prices on the plugin page.

Installing the Pro add-on

Pro is a separate add-on plugin that runs alongside the free plugin — the free plugin stays installed from WordPress.org and provides the foundation the add-on builds on. The Pro add-on requires the free plugin at a minimum version (currently 1.3.0), and tells you if your free plugin needs updating first. After you purchase Pro:

  1. Make sure the free EU VAT One Stop Shop (OSS) for WooCommerce plugin is installed and active (see Getting started).
  2. From your purchase confirmation email or your Lemon Squeezy account, download the Pro add-on .zip and copy your license key.
  3. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the Pro .zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

Once the add-on is active, license management appears on the Pro Features tab under WooCommerce → One Stop Shop.

Activating your license

With the Pro add-on installed and active:

  1. Go to WooCommerce → One Stop Shop → Pro Features.
  2. Enter your license key (it looks like xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) in the field.
  3. Click Activate.
  4. The tab switches to Pro is active, showing your plan, an obfuscated key, and the renewal date.

Once activated, all Pro features become available immediately. The plugin re-validates your license in the background once a week; if the license server is temporarily unreachable, your cached status is kept rather than Pro being switched off — a server hiccup never disables a valid license. (If the Pro Features tab only shows an upgrade prompt, the Pro add-on isn’t active yet — complete the install step above first.)

Re-entering the same key on the same site — for example after a renewal — re-validates the existing activation rather than consuming another activation slot.

Deactivating your license

If you need to move your license to a different site (for example, when migrating to a new domain), deactivate it first:

  1. Go to WooCommerce → One Stop Shop → Pro Features.
  2. Click Deactivate license and confirm.
  3. Your license key is now free to be activated on another site.

Each license has an activation limit based on your plan. Deactivating on one site frees up an activation slot so you can use it elsewhere.

Managing your subscription

Your subscription is managed through Lemon Squeezy. From your customer portal, you can:

  • View your subscription status — See whether your subscription is active, paused, or cancelled.
  • Update payment method — Change your credit card or payment details.
  • Download invoices — Access receipts for your records.
  • Cancel or pause your subscription — Manage renewal preferences.

You can access the customer portal via the link in your original purchase confirmation email, or by visiting the Lemon Squeezy website and logging in with the email address you used to purchase.

What happens when a license expires

If your subscription lapses or is cancelled, Pro features stop running:

  • Quarterly reports, auto-apply, the importer, VIES validation, multi-currency conversion, forecasting, the 70%/90% alerts, the monthly digest, and CSV export are disabled until you reactivate.
  • Already-imported VAT rates stay in place — they are ordinary WooCommerce tax rates, so your store keeps charging them. They just stop being kept up to date automatically.
  • Your configuration and data are saved — the auto-apply setting, tracked threshold data, and order classifications are kept and everything resumes immediately when you renew.
  • All free features continue to work — threshold tracking, order classification, the checkout VAT-number field (format validation), the dashboard, manual adjustments, and the 100% threshold alert are unaffected.

To reactivate, renew your subscription through Lemon Squeezy, then go to WooCommerce → One Stop Shop → Pro Features and click Check license status. The plugin re-checks with Lemon Squeezy and restores Pro on the spot — your license key stays the same.

Troubleshooting activation

”That doesn’t look like a valid license key”

The key has a fixed shape: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. Copy the full key from your order confirmation email with no extra spaces.

”This license has reached its activation limit”

Your license has been activated on the maximum number of sites. Deactivate it on a site you no longer use, then try again. Note that simply re-entering your key on a site where it is already activated does not consume an extra slot — it re-validates instead.

Activation fails with a connection error

This usually indicates a network issue between your site and the Lemon Squeezy API. Check that your server can make outbound HTTPS requests. Some hosting providers block external API calls — contact your host if this persists.

License shows as expired despite an active subscription

Go to WooCommerce → One Stop Shop → Pro Features and click Check license status to force a fresh check against Lemon Squeezy. The weekly background check will also pick the renewal up on its own, but the button restores Pro immediately.
